Did you know that the current method of forensic (crime scene) photography evolved from a mug shot? Alphonse Bertillon was the first person to document a crime scene using a camera. He originally photographed suspected criminals—creating mug shots—and then evolved his ideas to include shooting entire crime scenes. He shot images from various angles and positions and included photos of key objects and evidence in an investigation. His specific methodology was the catalyst for major changes in the crime solving field.
